Donald Draper (the lead role in the AMC series MadMen) is a misogynist. He’s a drunk, and a bit of a degenerate. He’s a womanizer and adulterer, and possibly even a sociopath.
He’s also my hero. Not for any of the reasons above. They, of course, are all despicable and deplorable traits. Donald Draper is my hero because he gets how creative departments work.
When you hire creative people, you have to let them be creative. You should put up with the oddities and eccentricities because that very madness is the fountain that creativity springs from. If you don’t, you may risk ruining an amazing campaign before it sees the light of day.
